The event has become a not-to-be-missed event in the Mainframe community. For its fourteenth edition, Mainframe Day will be held at the Maison du Cygne, located on Grand Place in Brussels, on 20 November, with our experts in attendance and a customer who will be talking about his use of the platform.
Over the course of the day, you will hear a number of inspiring presentations on strategic subjects such as the latest developments in mainframe, the value chain, sovereignty, the ecosystem, cybersecurity and the NRB roadmap.
Our experts will also discuss the latest technological developments to boost mainframe performance. Here are two examples:
Predictive observability: thanks to the infinite possibilities offered by artificial intelligence, it is now possible to anticipate potential failures, slowdowns or anomalies in the mainframe more effectively, before they affect users or operations.
Reverse engineering: detailed analysis of the mainframe's technical components (code, flows, etc.) is used to feed the reverse documentation of business knowledge, which translates these coded rules into clear, understandable and usable descriptions.
This event will be held in English
Agenda:
12.30-13.45: Walking lunch
14.00-14.15: Introduction & NRB Roadmap on Mainframe
14.15-14.35: Do more at the core: introducing the z17
During the presentation we will introduce the new IBM z17™, which integrates advanced artificial intelligence capabilities into the heart of the hybrid cloud. This innovation optimizes performance, security, and decision-making where critical data resides.
With AI built in, the z17 drives innovation, supports new workloads, and enhances productivity, all within a secure, reliable, and resilient environment designed to meet the needs of businesses and their customers.
14.35-15.05: Cost optimisation services
During this session we will share practical and actionable strategies to reduce costs across both Mainframe infrastructure and application development.
The presentation will include real-world use cases and success stories illustrating how several of NRB’s customers have achieved substantial cost savings, all while maintaining high standards of performance, reliability, and security.
15.05-15.30: Stone copy – The ultimate protection for your data
As ransomware and cyberattacks continue to rise, traditional data protection methods are no longer enough. Stone Copy offers a next-generation solution that ensures your data remains secure, untouchable, and instantly recoverable—even during a breach. This session introduces how Stone Copy uses immutable storage and intelligent recovery to provide ultimate protection and business continuity. Now also available for Mainframe!
15.30-16.00: Coffee Break
16.00-16.30: P&V Customer Testimonial
16.30-17.00: Leveraging AI in a Mainframe Application Maintenance Transition (TMA)
During this presentation, we will explore how, in the context of a mainframe application maintenance transition, we leverage sovereign AI within a structured software factory to modernize and optimize our way of working. By integrating AI into code review, testing, and documentation, through the sovereign hosting of tools such as IBM Watson X,we transform maintenance into a smarter, more efficient, and secure process.
17.00-17.30: Automation of CI/CD processes and zOS system virtualization
This presentation will explain the z/OS automation possibilities offered by
Ansible, as well as how to make a process agnostic in order to facilitate the
automation of virtual environment creation in ODTz.
We will present several projects already implemented at NRB, as well as possible
future exploitation and development prospects.
17.30-17.45: Conclusions – Laurence Mathieu, CEO NRB
17.45-18.45: Drink
