NRB's CO2 emissions reduced by more than 27% since 2015

NRB's CO2 emissions reduced by more than 27% since 2015.
Encouraging results and congratulations from Agoria.

NRB has just received the results of its energy analysis for 2020 and they are encouraging.

The report of the auditor within the framework of the "sector agreements - 2nd generation" is clear: NRB has consumed a quarter less energy than in 2015; at the same time, its CO2 emissions have fallen by 27.4%!

These figures relate to the electricity and heating consumption of the NRB site in Herstal, despite the increase in its ICT infrastructure (data centre capacity, number of servers, etc.).

NRB received congratulations from Agoria for these 2020 energy audit results: "Congratulations on your remarkable progress, putting you well ahead of your 2023 target."

Within the framework of sector agreements, a contract is drawn up, on a voluntary basis, between the Walloon Region and the industrial sector, in NRB's case by Agoria. In 2015, NRB already signed such an agreement with the commitment to improve its energy efficiency and reduce its CO2 emissions.

NRB is not stopping there. Thanks to the commissioning of the wind turbine in early 2022, NRB will further significantly reduce its consumption. And together with the auditor, NRB is conducting a broader study to estimate its energy consumption and overall carbon footprint. The next step will then be to set a new reduction target by the end of the year and work out a list of actions with a timetable.
