About the FSMA
The FSMA was created on the 1st of April 2011 and counts a central administrative building in the Congresstraat. Its complete name is the Financial Services and Markets Authority. The FSMA has the legal form of an autonomous public institution. It performs the assignments of general interest which are entrusted to it by the legislators in an independent manner.
The FSMA exercises control over the Belgian financial sector alongside the National Bank of Belgium. The Legislators have given the FSMA numerous mandates to carry out actions to protect the consumers and to optimize the integrity of the markets.
